5 Tips to Avoid Motion Sickness on Your First Cruise

If you are about to embark on your first cruise, here are five tips that you can follow to avoid motion sickness!

Cruises are a formidable way to spend your holiday! You simply cut yourself from land and spend a week or two sailings, with the sea's wind softly touching your face. But that is not everything that one can experience during a cruise.

There are a couple of other things that had to be taken into consideration for this type of holiday Š it's not all just fun and games. However, the most important thing would be to know how to keep motion sickness away so that you don't lose "precious cruise days".

If you are about to embark on your first cruise, here are five tips that you can follow to avoid motion sickness!

Sleep Enough Before the Cruise
Most people get motion sickness on the first day of their cruise as they're not yet used to the ship's movement. In time, almost anyone will get used to it, and motion sickness will not be an issue.
However, if you want your first day on your first cruise to be perfect, we recommend you get at least 8 hours of sleep the night before. The lack of sleep leads to exhaustion which, in turn, promotes the motion sickness effects.

CBD Oils
You may already know that CBD is great for calming most afflictions and medical conditions. This is because, in broad terms, CBD is just like getting high Š "but without the high".

In short, youÕll get the same calming and relaxing sensation from a potent CBD oil as you would if you smoked a blunt/joint. If you think youÕll get motion sick and you want to avoid pills, then CBD is the right choice.

Things to Stay Away From
There are also a couple of things that you must sacrifice during a cruise to avoid motion sickness. In fact, even people who donÕt normally suffer from such a thing should stay away from the following items. Namely, we refer to books, smartphones and laptops, and alcohol. Reading can be relaxing Š but not quite when the book and the words are moving up and down, left and right. Device screens have pretty much the same effect Š youÕll focus your eyes in a single spot, only that the spot wonÕt remain still due to the shipÕs movement. Naturally, it goes without saying why alcohol promotes motion sickness.

Stare at the Horizon
You should not lock yourself in your cabin if you feel motion sickness. It may sound like a good idea, but the cabin will move as much as your body. Instead, get on the deck and, if you feel sickness approaching, take a good, long look at the horizon and control your breathing. Make sure to avoid looking at waves as well, for obvious reasons.

Pills and Medicine
If you know that your motion sickness episodes can get a bit too stubborn, then you should bring appropriate medicine with you. In fact, all people should bring such medicine with them, regardless of whether they usually suffer from motion sickness or not. As always, it is better to be safe than sorry. In this case, it is better to spend your day on the deck sipping non-alcoholic cocktails rather than puking in your cabin.

The Bottom Line
There are a lot of tricks to keep motion sickness away and, as you can see, some natural/organic solutions as well. However, even if you plan to use something else than i>"the good old pill", it is still highly recommended having motion sickness medicine on you, just in case, the situation gets worse.
